Hi, I'm Kaitlyn

Soccer and Academics are important parts of my life but there is more to me than being an athlete and scholar. In terms of the types of high school students portrayed in director John Hughes 1985 classic movie "The Breakfast Club", I have pondered the question "am I the geek, princess, jock, rebel, or outcast"? The answer is that I am all of them.
As a shy and unassuming teenager who walks around daily with a smile and sense of joy about life, many are surprised to discover that I used a chainsaw to take down trees and cut 2x4s with a mitre saw to build a shed, that I drive a jacked up and blacked out pick up truck named "Sully", have eaten rattlesnake, am extremely independent and tough as nails, and I get emotional when I hear John Lennon's song "Imagine" (which I consider the greatest song ever written). People are shocked to learn that I hiked 42 of the 48 four thousand foot mountains in NH before the age of 14 , survived tent camping in hypothermic conditions on the top of a +4,000ft mountain during a hurricane, completed a triathlon at the age of 9, qualified for the Obstacle Course Racing World Championships at 14, enjoy making creative ceramic pottery (see the Artistic Voyage section on this website), love getting dressed up and dancing with my friends (although, my dance moves consist of jumping up and down), and find a sense of peace and comfort sitting around a fire pit at night talking with my family. As much as people try to put me into a single category, there isn't one that I fit nicely into as I am so much more than I appear to be. Who am I? Those who truly know me know that I....... |
